It primarily relies on the pressure difference and centrifugal force. When a double-suction pump starts operating, both of its inlets create negative-pressure zones, causing liquid to flow from the supply system toward the pump’s suction inlet due to this pressure differential.

It primarily relies on the pressure difference and centrifugal force. When a double-suction pump starts operating, both of its inlets create negative-pressure zones, causing liquid to flow from the supply system toward the pump’s suction inlet due to this pressure differential. Once the liquid enters the pump cavity through the suction inlet, the pump’s rotor begins to rotate. The rotor typically consists of an impeller and a shaft, with the impeller playing a key role in transferring the liquid. As the rotor spins, it propels the liquid toward the pump’s discharge outlet. Simultaneously, the rotation of the rotor generates centrifugal force, which pushes the liquid outward and significantly increases its pressure. Finally, as the pressurized liquid reaches the discharge outlet, the pump efficiently delivers it into the connected pipeline or storage container.
